Henrik Gudbergsen is doctor and Chief Medical Officer at the online weight loss clinic Embla.

Embla have a holistic approach to weight loss and use microbiome data as one of their tools to get a better understanding of their member's body. Through this data they study the microbiome to understand its connection to obesity/weight loss and medicine.

Henrik is also associated professor and researcher at the University of Copenhagen, and has worked with obesity and weight loss for +20 years.

Weight-loss medicine has gone through a revolution from the old "eat less, move more" approach to GLP-1 drugs that can produce 15–22% weight loss. In this episode Henrik Gudbergsen talks about what changed, and why these new drugs are, at their core, gut hormones.

Henrik also explains why the microbiome is becoming relevant to weight-loss treatment, what studies have been made within this field that connects the microbiome to weight loss/gain, and what are the hopes for future research.
